Dear EWMS Families,

We want to thank everyone who donated to our capital campaign in October.  Mrs. Foster’s 6th grade class raised the most money so they won the pizza party.  Mrs. Foster will also get $100 in school supplies.  Students who won the gift certificates were Ivey Stanley, Olivia McCann, Ronda Stanley, and Nathaniel Burchette.  We did not reach our goal of $10,000 but with the money raised, we were able to replace 7 old cameras and install 4 new ones.   Improving our school wide safety is one long term goal we have been working towards for the past two years.  We still have cameras to replace but we have a great start!  Other school wide goals are to replace custodial equipment and staff computers.  While we get money from the state to help with these types of purchases, the expense involved far exceeds the amount of money we get.  We will be doing another school wide fundraiser in the spring to continue to work towards these goals.  If you participated in the capital campaign, we will not be sending this fundraising opportunity home with your student.

We want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  Enjoy the holidays with family and friends.  We will see everyone back at school on Wednesday, January 3.

Congratulations to Mrs. Rita Ray on being chosen as the EWMS Teacher of the Year for 2018-19.  Mrs. Ray teaches 6th grade English Language Arts and social studies.  She will represent EWMS well!

Progress reports came home on November 30th.  Please contact your student’s teacher or check the Parent Portal if you have questions about missing or incomplete work.  The second quarter does not end until January 12 so there is time to turn in work to improve grade averages.

All students will take a second diagnostic assessment in reading and math using a program called Exact Path.  This assessment places the students on an individual learning path based on how the student performs.  Lessons in a path can go up to 12th grade or down to Kindergarten if needed.  The timeframe for completing the diagnostic is December 14th, 15th, 18th, and 19th.  Please encourage your student to do his/her best to insure the most accurate learning path in reading and math possible.
