Gear Up Parent Survey
GEAR Up (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) is a researched based, national college access initiative that provides critical early college awareness and support activities for students in Wilkes County’s Middle and High schools. GEAR UP follows a cohort of students and this school year, the grant covers students in the 7th through 10th grades. The GEAR UP program model strives to increase the number of students who are informed on how to plan, apply, and pay for post-secondary programming through direct classroom lessons, two and four-year college tours, as well as parent information sessions. GEAR UP supports educational programs such as Tutor.com, Virtual Job Shadow, along with summer and special event programs on the campuses of Wilkes Community College, Appalachian State University and UNC Asheville.
Throughout the school year, GEAR UP gathers information through parent surveys, teacher and student surveys to assist in improving programs and activities in our schools. If you are a parent or guardian of a student in the 7th, 8th, 9th, or 10th grade in Wilkes County Schools, please take a few minutes to complete the brief GEAR UP Survey. Below is the link to the survey. The deadline for the survey is November 3, 2017. We are grateful for your input!
