Red Ribbon Week is a nationally recognized week of drug education and celebration of a drug free life.
One focus of the week will be to have students learn about a “Natural High”. A natural high is a healthy activity that you enjoying doing such as playing a sport, reading, drawing, or helping others identify activities that produce feelings of happiness and self-worth helps teens resist the temptation to experiment with drugs/alcohol.
This year we will have a week long canned food drive to benefit several local food shelters. Please have your student contribute their donation to the homeroom teacher and remember no glass or liquid items.
Students will also be allowed to dress up to the following themes! Please remember that the EWMS dress code still applies.
Monday, October 26th (B) – Wear RED!
Tuesday, October 27th (A) and
Wednesday, October 28th (B)
“Follow your Dreams…Don’t Do Drugs”
Pajama Day – no slippers, blankets or stuffed animals
Thursday, October 29th (A) and
Friday, October 30th (B)
“Scare Away Drugs” – Wear Halloween attire
This will be a great time to have a conversation with your student about your expectations and beliefs about drug/alcohol use and how to respond to peer pressure.
In addition, help your student identify activities that they are good at and enjoy doing…their Natural High!
