GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs is a federally funded college access program designed to increase the number of students who are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education. GEAR UP defines postsecondary education as any education beyond high school that prepares students for employment. Wilkes County Schools GEAR UP works in partnership with Appalachian State University and 9 other NC counties to provide college preparation activities to 15,000 middle and high school students and parents. We are excited about having GEAR UP back on the East Wilkes Middle School Campus. We will be sharing more information with EWMS students and parents in the near future about GEAR UP resources and upcoming programs. As we begin to plan out programming for the future we are asking EWMS families to take a few minutes and complete our GEAR UP Family Survey. The survey link can be found below. The information you provide to us will help us shape the future of our programming.
